Thai Airways now offers street food on board

The Thai airline is adding local specialities to its Economy Class menu. The selection changes monthly.

Thai Airways plans to make greater use of Thailand's culinary heritage. The airline is launching ‘Street Food’ on board to offer passengers more local dishes.

The airline has teamed up with Dusit Thani to offer Economy Class passengers typical dishes from renowned local restaurants on flights departing from Bangkok. This initiative also promotes small businesses on the global stage through the ‘Streets to Sky’ programme. Initially, four popular dishes will be offered each month:

  • Pad Gaprao: stir-fried chicken with basil and a fried egg. This iconic Thai dish, beloved by many, was specially created by Chef Tukta, a royal-court-trained chef with nearly 20 years of experience. She perfected this recipe to ensure that it retains the scent of spices and sacred basil when reheated on board.
  • Chicken Massaman Curry, a dish that is one of ‘The World's 50 Best Foods’. It is complex and requires numerous spices and ingredients.
  • Goey See Mee, stewed chicken noodles. This Cantonese-style dish is a street food classic from Nam Tien, a legendary restaurant in Phetchaburi Province.
  • Khao Soi Chicken, a northern Thai speciality popular with locals and tourists alike.

These street food offerings are part of Thai Airways' initiative to enhance in-flight service and introduce international travellers to Thailand's rich culinary heritage.
