No visa fees to Egypt
In summer, temperatures in Luxor and Aswan often exceed 40 degrees Celsius. This means that fewer tourists visit the historic cities of Upper Egypt. Now, the authorities have announced that visa fees for foreign guests will be temporarily waived in order to counteract the slump in tourist numbers over the summer.
According to the «Visa Navigator» the exemption from visa fees only applies to travellers flying to the international airports of Luxor or Aswan between May and October 2025. With these measures, authorities aim not only to attract more visitors but also to boost the local economy and generate new jobs in the tourism sector.
Luxor is famous for its attractions such as the Temple of Karnak and the Valley of the Kings. Aswan fascinates its visitors with the Temple of Abu Simbel and a picturesque view of the Nile.
Egypt has focussed on cultural and archaeological tourism to showcase its historical diversity. If waiving visa fees does indeed attract more tourists, other popular destinations in the country may follow suit.
