These are the 10 whitest beaches in the world
When you dream of the perfect beach, you usually think of dazzling white sand that crunches like sugar under your feet, and bright blue water that glistens in the sun. But where exactly in the world can you actually find the whitest sand? The British luxury tour operator CV Villas claims to have found out
The analysts used an original approach: they took unedited screenshots of 200 beaches worldwide on Google Maps and used a special tool to analyse the colours of the images. The results were compared with the purest white in the colour system to find out which beaches came closest to perfect white. The result? An impressive list of beaches with dazzling white sand.
Mexico is at the top
Top of the list is Tulum Beach on Mexico's Caribbean coast – a pristine, 10-kilometre stretch of the Riviera Maya. The sand here is nearly pure white, with just the faintest trace of another color. It’s the very definition of a picture-perfect beach.
In second place is the dream beach Anse Source D'Argent in the Seychelles, which is considered one of the most beautiful stretches of beach in the world. Its pristine white shores and striking granite rocks make it an iconic subject for photography."
Perhaps somewhat surprisingly for many, European beaches play a dominant role in the ranking. They are represented six times in the top 10. In third place is Marmari Beach on the Greek island of Kos. This makes it the European champion of white beaches.
Italy and Spain are also well represented in the ranking. Tropea Beach in southern Italy shares fourth place with Platja de Muro on the Balearic island of Majorca. Platja de Muro has long been considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Spain – and now it is also one of the whitest.
A special insider tip is Cala Pluma on Ibiza, the sixth whitest sandy beach in the world. Located away from the hustle and bustle, it offers seclusion and sparkling white sand – perfect for holidaymakers looking for something special.
In 7th place is Plage de Valras near Montpellier, surrounded by numerous leisure activities and a lively beach promenade. Cala Brandinchi comes in at number eight. This beach is considered one of the most idyllic bathing spots in Sardinia and is often called ‘Little Tahiti’.
And then there are two Caribbean beaches in the top 10. Stocking Island Beach in the Bahamas and Taylor Bay Beach in the Turks and Caicos Islands share ninth place among the whitest beaches in the world.
