Unusual finds: The weirdest items left in hotel rooms
It's not uncommon for a toothbrush, belt or charging cable to be left behind in a hotel room when guests check out. But sometimes they also leave very unusual things behind, as revealed by the so-called «Hotel Room Innsights Report» from the booking platform Hotels.com. The report reveals the most bizarre stories from over 400 partner hotels worldwide.
The most expensive items found in the last twelve months were watches and a Birkin bag, collectively worth several million francs. Hotel staff have also encountered animal surprises: they discovered a chick and a pet gecko and returned them to their absent-minded owners.
In another case, hotel staff found two plaster casts for entire legs and an astonishing number of dentures. And the list of strange finds continues: rice cookers, car tires, blenders, and even construction pipes—items guests simply left behind after their stay.
Some hotel employees go the extra mile for their guests. According to the report, one particularly dedicated employee traveled 160 kilometers to return a passport, while another sprinted across the city to hand over important items to a guest just before he was due to depart on a cruise ship. In another instance, a hotel employee traveled four hours to return a guest’s suitcase.
