Spectacular glass gondola in Wallis

Imagine gliding effortlessly through the Val d'Anniviers in Valais as if floating on air: the new "Alpine Top" cable car offers guests a breathtaking journey to the Espace Weisshorn in a transparent gondola, available year-round.

«The ride offers a feeling of lightness and is an extraordinary experience in itself. With this gondola, we are therefore taking an important step towards year-round tourism», says Pascal Bourquin, Director of Remontées Mécaniques Grimentz-Zinal SA. The project is characterised by both innovation and respect for nature.

With glass floors, walls, and balconies, the entire cabin provides an unparalleled experience. Unveiled by the Grimentz-Zinal mountain railway company in collaboration with Garaventa, this innovative cable car promises a truly spectacular ride for all visitors.

360-degree view guaranteed

Speaking of nature: during the three-and-a-half kilometre ride, it becomes clear that the glass floor of the new gondola offers a unique perspective of the alpine landscape of the Val d'Anniviers. The glass walls and two glass balconies provide an impressive 360-degree view, making it easier to spot fascinating details of the alpine fauna and flora.

Even the base is made of glass.

The «Alpine Top» gondola also offers ample capacity, capable of transporting up to 2,000 people per day. Travelling at a speed of 36 kilometers per hour, it takes just ten minutes to ascend from Grimentz, situated at 1,600 meters above sea level, to the «Espace Weisshorn» at 2,700 meters above sea level.

Terrace under the imperial crown

At the finish, the alpine experience continues at the «Espace Weisshorn». The mountain restaurant also breaks new ground with its gourmet cuisine. With a marvellous view of the summit of the same name, guests can enjoy the dishes of Davide Esercito, who previously worked as a cheff in Michelin-starred restaurants in Italy, Brussels, London, Ovronnaz and Geneva, to name but a few.

The «Espace Weisshorn» awaits you at the mountain station.

Its menu is based on regional and seasonal products - short transport routes and local producers emphasise the restaurant's sustainable and innovative approach. Another highlight of the Espace Weisshorn is the panoramic terrace with breathtaking all-round views of the Kaiserkrone.
