Another capsule hotel for Lucerne

Since 2018, it has been possible to stay in capsule hotels in Lucerne, a first in the country. The concept, which originated in Japan, has been adapted and further developed for the European travel market. Europe's largest capsule hotel opened at Zurich Airport in 2022. The opening has shown that this type of accommodation has potential. Since opening in 2022, the "capsule hotel - alpine garden" at Zurich Airport has welcomed over 70,000 guests and achieved an occupancy rate of around 75%.

Switzerland's fourth capsule hotel, the "capsule hotel - chapter lucerne", opened in the heart of Lucerne's old town on 24 March 2024. Just a few metres from the Lion Monument, the hotel offers space for around 80 guests in the specially developed "Swiss Capsules™".

In addition to the capsules, the hotel has an area known as the "Open Zone" where guests can socialise, have a drink or a bite to eat and plan their next travel destinations. Guests can also benefit from a NIKIN pop-up store, where they can buy sustainable clothing and accessories from the Swiss brand. Travellers also have the opportunity to take tours of Lucerne and the surrounding area in the small "Microlino" electric car from Micro.

The design theme of the capsule hotel in Lucerne is "artistic-library". Stories such as The Little Prince, Peter Pan and Pipi Longstocking were selected for this and depicted both in the capsule rooms and in the open zone in collaboration with two local artists. At dusk, the hotel will change its appearance using light effects, the various characters will wake up and bring the hotel to life.
