Action, adrenaline, and adventure – theme parks offer a perfect escape from everyday life for both children and adults. The travel group TUI analyzed 60 parks in Europe and rated them based on criteria such as variety of attractions, popularity, and value for money. We present the top 10 that are particularly recommended for a holiday or weekend trip from Switzerland.

1. Europa-Park (Germany)

This classic attraction in Rust remains the undisputed favorite — boasting over 100 attractions, including 14 thrilling coasters, immersive themed worlds, and outstanding family-friendly activities. Guests rave about it: a stellar 4.7-star rating on Google speaks volumes. Be aware that it can get crowded during peak times. Pro tip: For select rides, use the app to book a free “Virtual Line,” letting you wait virtually and make better use of your time in the park.

2. Energylandia (Poland)

Spectacular, affordable, and fast-paced: Energylandia boasts over 50 attractions, including an impressive selection of high-speed coasters and thrill rides. Its Google rating is hard to beat: 4.9 stars! A paradise for adrenaline junkies – but navigating the expansive grounds isn't always easy. Those short on time should plan a route through the amusement park in advance.

3. Tripsdrill Adventure Park (Germany)

A charming family park with over 100 attractions and plenty of heart — from fairytale trains to thrilling rides. Affordable admission and a lovingly detailed focus on Swabian culture are definite highlights. However, it may lack a bit of international flair and could feel less exciting for older teens.

4. Heide Park (Germany)

Germany’s second-largest amusement park features ten roller coasters and delivers a serious dose of adrenaline. It's perfect for teens and thrill-seeking adults. However, the dining options leave room for improvement — particularly when it comes to vegetarian choices.

5. Djurs Summerland (Denmark)

A true family favorite, offering over 60 attractions — from splash-filled water playgrounds to high-speed coasters. Danish hospitality adds to the experience. Those expecting Disney-style themed worlds, however, will find a more practical and straightforward design here.

6. Fårup Summerland (Denmark)

Nature meets thrills: Nestled between a forest and a lake, the park offers not only great rides but also activities like canoeing and climbing—an adventure park in the truest sense of the word. Some of the infrastructure, however, feels a bit dated compared to other leading parks.

7. Parc Astérix (France)

Gallo-Roman flair and modern action – Parc Astérix impresses with its diverse themes and impressive attractions. Compared to Disney, the park is less crowded but offers a similar level of entertainment. One small drawback: the English signage could be clearer.

8. PortAventura World (Spain)

Sun, sand, and speed: This park near Barcelona beckons with amazing roller coasters and Ferrari Land. The atmosphere is thrilling, and the water park is also top-notch. The only drawback is the wait times—but with smart planning, you can still make the most of your day.

9. Hansa Park (Germany)

Located directly on the Baltic Sea, Hansa-Park delights visitors with more than 80 attractions and an unusually harmonious park design. Its blend of adventure and nautical romance is unique. The park is a bit less well-known, which adds to its pleasantly relaxed atmosphere.

10. Alton Towers (Great Britain)

Britain's flagship theme park combines a historic setting with thrills – nine roller coasters provide adrenaline rushes. The highlight: "The Smiler," the ride with the most inversions in the world. Because of the unpredictable weather, it’s best to visit during the summer months.
