Grand Canyon camping fees set for major price hike

Camping with a view of the Grand Canyon will cost significantly more in the future: After almost 20 years without a price increase, overnight fees are going up by a whopping 60 percent.

Prices for campsites in Grand Canyon National Park are on the rise. From May 1, 2025, fees for standard campsites at the three main campgrounds – Desert View, North Rim and Mather Campground – will increase significantly: instead of the previous $18, a night will now cost $30. By contrast, prices for group sites will remain constant at $55 per night.

This is the first adjustment to camping fees since 2005, according to the national park. Revenue from the proposed recreation fees will go directly toward maintaining and upgrading park infrastructure — including improved accessibility, facility renovations, and modernized visitor amenities.

Officials say the fee hike is necessary to manage the rising number of visitors while maintaining facility standards. Planned upgrades aim to further improve the visitor experience — including modernized restrooms and updated signage.

Campers should plan ahead: Spring, summer and fall sites can be booked here. For more information on reservable and first-come, first-served sites, visit the official website of Grand Canyon National Park.
