Musical enjoyment in front of the Matterhorn
Zermatt Unplugged, taking place from 8 to 12 April 2025, promises to be a festival for music fans – reduced, intimate and unique. The festival offers over 120 concerts on 17 stages – from the mountain to the village, as the organisers report.
The main acts couldn't be more diverse: Stephan Eicher will open the festival on 8 April with a world premiere. Accompanied by the Swiss Orchestra, conducted by Lena-Lisa Wüstendörfer, and with literary support from writer Martin Suter, he will present an extraordinary combination of chanson and classical music.
Further highlights: UB40, who will be performing acoustic versions of songs from their album ‘UB45’ for the first time, Amy Macdonald's unmistakable indie-folk, MIKA's French-language album ‘Que ta tête fleurisse toujours’ and Clueso's only Swiss concert of the 2025 tour.
Intimate moments in the Valais mountains
The intimate atmosphere is the hallmark of Zermatt Unplugged. At Club Vernissage, guests will experience Matt Berninger (The National) with his programme ‘Serpentine Prison’ and Samy Deluxe, who will reinterpret songs from his album ‘Hochkultur 2’ with a chamber music ensemble.
At the Sunnegga Sessions, located 2,288 meters above sea level, the audience will enjoy an especially intimate experience with performances by artists such as Calexico, Jade Bird, and Fink—plus the unique touch of a shared ride on the funicular railway.
In the Heinz Julen Loft, guests can expect musical ‘living room concerts’ with James Vincent McMorrow, Fil Bo Riva and Gigi Perez. The Kapelle Winkelmatten will host Cara Rose, offering a truly emotional experience through her intimate, unamplified piano ballads.
Another highlight is Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, which brings a touch of Soho to the Mont Cervin Palace. The Ronnie Scott's All Stars and the Soul Family will be providing jazz and club vibes.
Unplugged Pass wird teurer
The Unplugged Pass for the upcoming edition of Zermatt Unplugged will cost CHF 85 – an increase of CHF 20 from previous years.. The pass continues to provide access to all Unplugged Pass stages, the Taste Village, the foyer tent, Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club (reservation of seats recommended) and the after-show parties. The pass allows visitors to experience a total of over 80 concerts during the entire festival.
Festival managing director Rolf Furrer attributes the price adjustment to rising costs in areas like fees, personnel, and infrastructure. However, Ticket prices for concerts on the Zeltbühne will remain unchanged.
Public ticket sales for Zermatt Unplugged 2025 will begin on 13 December 2024, while club members and buyers of the ‘Hotel & Unplugged Pass’ package will be able to secure tickets in the exclusive presale from 11 December 2024.
The organisers will communicate the full programme of the Unplugged Pass stages and the names of the acts that will be performing at the after-show parties at the end of January 2025.
