Visit Florida braves the hurricanes
Florida's tourism authorities have launched a multi-million dollar crisis plan to support the areas affected by hurricanes Helene and Milton. Although some parts of the state have been severely affected, many regions remain open and continue to welcome travellers.
To spread this message, Visit Florida has launched a series of social media campaigns. Under the slogan «Stronger than the Storm», the state's ability to recover is emphasised within Florida itself, while «Florida is Resilient» highlights its resilience in national markets. The «Sun is Shining in Florida» campaign is already running for areas that were hardly affected.
Tampa and Orlando airports, which were temporarily closed due to Hurricane Milton, quickly resumed operations. Tampa International has been operating at almost full strength since Monday, handling about 500 flights a day. Orlando International Airport is also back in full operation after debris was cleared from the airport grounds.
In the Florida Keys, the tourist infrastructure remained largely unscathed. The famous Overseas Highway and all 42 bridges are fully passable, and the airports in Key West and Marathon remained in continuous operation. The port of Key West has also resumed operations.
A dedicated website provides travellers and B2B partners with continuously updated information on the tourist infrastructure, including hotels, theme parks, bus, train and aviation.
