10 tips for a relaxed start to the summer holidays
Swiss expects around ten per cent more passengers in the upcoming months than in the same period last year. The Swiss airline will handle an average of over 60,000 passengers worldwide every day. The summer holiday season, which began at the start of July, is particularly busy.
In order to be a reliable partner for its passengers during the busy summer months, Swiss has taken a whole series of measures: it is working with buffers, has more crews on standby and has reserve aircraft on standby.
Passengers can also help to make their journey as pleasant as possible. Swiss has summarised the most important points in a guide:
- Download the Swiss app: This allows passengers to receive information on their mobile phone via push message about whether the gate has changed or a flight is delayed. Passengers also have access to all their flight details and travel documents and can ask the digital chatbot if they have any questions. A separate help desk supports customers directly in the app.
- Check in online at home: Starting 24 hours before your departure, you can
create a mobile boarding pass using the Swiss app or website. - Check in baggage either the evening before the flight, use the Airportr service or check in at a self-bag drop machine at the airport.
- Observe the applicable baggage regulations with regard to quantity, weight, size, etc. and use the Swiss baggage calculator to be on the safe side.
- Take hand luggage that is as light and handy as possible can reduce waiting times at security checkpoints. It also makes boarding easier and increases comfort on board.
- Take personal items such as valuables, a valid passport and medication as well as devices such as mobile phones and tablets, powerbanks and e-cigarettes in your hand luggage.
- Check the flight status and possible flight schedule changes on the Swiss website before travelling to the airport.
- Allow sufficient time for check-in and security and passport control at the airport.
- Observe the entry regulations for the destination.
- Research how to successfully travel with children before going on a family holiday..
