Riyadh Air crews take to the skies in style
The first flight of Riyadh Air, Saudi Arabia's newest national airline, is planned for 2025. The airline has now unveiled its uniforms at Paris Fashion Week.
The airline, known for its hijabs for women and kandora for men, has instead opted for a Hollywood look. This design choice showcases the glamour and elegance of the 1960s, a golden age of air travel, as depicted in the film. The uniforms are in dark blue and purple and combine classic silhouettes with progressive cuts.
The airline was inspired by a well-known film, «Catch me if you can». «Who doesn't remember Leonardo Di Caprio», says Managing Director Tony Douglas enthusiastically. The golden age of aviation was used as a template and applied to the present day, according to Riyadh Air. The uniforms were created by Saudi designer Mohammed Ashi, who is a regular on the catwalks of Paris.
Other airlines from the region are much more traditional. Saudia, another national airline of Saudi Arabia, Emirates, and Qatar Airways all rely on the classic Arabian look with their respective uniforms.
